Meet Rex Falkenrath

While a lifelong resident of Salt Lake City, Rex Falkenrath has traveled globally and amassed almost 2 million air miles.  As an early teen, Falkenrath purchased an eyesore of a car from his neighbor’s daughter and started his first business, Salt Lake Tire Supply, delivering tires to service stations throughout Salt Lake County.  Later, he started seven major firms including Hi-Tech Engine Components, a multi-million dollar international firm, of which he was the founder and CEO for 35 years.

Hi-Tech Engine Components supplied virtually every major national account in the automotive aftermarket and prepared the annual marketing strategy plans for many global companies such as AutoZone, NAPA, CARQUEST, Parts Plus, The Alliance and Pep Boys.  One of Falkenrath's seven start ups was the high tech company, Techniphase Industries, Inc., which commercialized patented air/fuel atomization technology and licensed it to the world’s leading high-performance piston manufactures.

Rex Falkenrath attended the University of Utah, Westminster College and graduated from the National Institute of Credit Management, New York City, as a certified business analyst.  He has lectured on lean distribution practice at BYU’s Marriott School of Business; Westminster’s Gore College of Business and served on the Dean’s Round Table on Ethics at the U of U’s David Eccles School of Business. He serves on the Utah Small Business Coalition Board, Utah Micro Loan Fund Board and Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board which named him the Business Person of the Year for 2011. He recently founded and opened the Park City Business Resource Center to serve all of Summit County.

In 2011, Rex Falkenrath transitioned from the Presidents Advisory Board at Westminster College, to a full time position as the Director of New Ventures at Westminster College.  Westminster is a 136 year, old comprehensive liberal arts college that offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in the US and now offers business degrees in China.

He is a graduate of the Bondurant School of Grand Prix Automotives Racing but his favorite hobby is gourmet cooking and is a Chevalier of La Chaine Des Rotisseure, an international chef’s association dating back to 1200 AD.
